Please understand, this blog is a labor of love, that I don’t have much time for.  If you’re an event organizer or promoter, please don’t be picky or challenge me about what’s included, if you want to be sure the blog stays in existence.

Melting Pot – NYC Fusion Dance
Our special guest DJ this week is Brett Nomberg. He’ll bring a little west coast flavor, but also some zouk and a little of extra spice of everything.
What is Fusion Dance?
Fusion Dance is a relatively new term for a genre of dance that combines two or more partner dance genres together during the course of a song. To us, this means breaking down the boundaries between dance forms to allow us to pick and choose which amongst the many different techniques we wish to employ at any given time. It also means bringing the partner dance community together under one roof to help foster endless possibilities of movement creation.
Spread the word, share the event and bring friends who have yet to try Fusion Fantastic-ness!

For over ten years, the Edison Ballroom was known as the “Supper Club” and was the venue of choice in the 1990s swing era revival in New York City, running every Friday and Saturday until 4 AM. The Savoy Ball is a one-time opportunity to return to the Supper Club, this time with Savoy swing music and at a classy black tie/vintage occasion.  The Edison Ballroom has all the feel and spirit of a1930s Ballroom – which indeed is what it is.  In 1998, Frankie blessed this dance floor when he danced and performed in the Public Broadcasting Service’s televised documentary “Swingin’ With the Duke.”
The entire dance floor will be open for dancing.  Upstairs there will be a second dance floor in the remodeled Lounge, with small-group live music.  A third dance floor will be placed in the balcony overlooking the main ballroom floor.

Her voice has been compared to the likes of Ella Fitzgerald and Patsy Cline. Her look is reminiscent of the Golden Age of Hollywood. Chanteuse Tara O’Grady mixes Celtic sounds with blues, folk, swing and jazz into her unique style, delivers sweet sounds for swing dancing.

A Lindy Memory…

If you haven’t seen this video before, please check it out.  This blog is followed around the world, so please share within your local lindy scene.  This post is in tribute to a dear friend who conceived and co-choreographed/directed this flash mob and introduced me to the Lindy Hop.  If you can, please click through and watch it on YouTube, I’d like to see the view counter rise.  Thanks.
