Playing many of Frankie’s musical favorites (Shiny Stockings, Splanky, Tuxedo Junction, Things Ain’t What They Used To Be, Easy Does It, Take the A Train, Christopher Columbus, Wednesday Night Hop and more…) – we will record this sure-to-be magical night of music and dance for posterity. And after nearly two decades of providing the world a place to swing 7-nights-week – we think its time for the FIRST “Live at SWING46” recording!

Brooklyn-born Jazz singer, Cilla Owens presents a rousing musical celebration of the great live shows at two of Brooklyn’s premier stages: The Fox and The Paramount. Hear the music of Motown’s top groups and the funky rhythms from the Godfather of Soul, James Brown. This family friendly event will feature a special surprise for kids of all ages.

Led by Gordon Au, an impeccably trained trumpeter with an antiquarian ear, the The Grand St. Stompers have become a pillar of New York’s hot jazz scene. The New Orleans-style hot jazz band revives and refreshes the music of the 1920s onward for today’s listeners, swing dancers, and music fans. The octet features perennial Plaza Swing performers Dennis Lichtman and Tamar Korn.

Plaza Swing Series – Swingtime Big Band
Dedicated to the performance of America’s greatest popular standards, this 20-piece authentic swing band specializes in performing original arrangements of Big Band classics from the Great American Songbook, bringing to life both the style and the spirit of this music for 21st century audiences. Bring your dancing shoes!
Dance lessons are at 6:30, band starts at 7 pm.

MUSIC AT SUNSET: SWING WITH FLEUR SEULE
a 100% swing festival at the FDR Four Freedoms Park that is open to the public. Outdoors on Roosevelt Island:
Travel back in time to the 1940s with swing, jazz, and ballroom hits by Fleur Seule. Led by songbird and band leader Allyson Briggs, Fleur Seule’s 7-piece band plays the music popular in FDR’s time, evoking a bygone era.
From 6:15pm – 7:15pm, learn to swing-dance with lessons for all levels by dancing couple Jerry and Celia Feldman. Then, visitors can practice their new moves from 7:15pm – 9:00pm.
Food, beer, and wine will be available for sale at the Katchkie Farm Food Station. Members will receive 2 complimentary drinks. Become a member today!
